First holiday by plane (part I)

30 Jun 2007 @ 09:33

On June 10th, we went on our first family holiday to the US! Marcus did very well on his first flight. Other passengers even took pictures of our handsome boy! ;)

Our first stop was Washington DC where we went for coffee at the White House. A handsome Belgian-American boy like Marcus deserves only the best welcome during his first US visit.

During the 3 days in Washington, we walked all over the place and visited the Capitol, National Gallery of Art, National Museum of Natural History, National Air and Space Museum, and the botanic gardens.
We also walked by the National Mall with the Korean Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial and the Washington Monument.

In the evening we had a nice dinner in Georgetown. Marcus loved discovering all the new places!

Unexpectedly, we were able to visit the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air & Space Museum. United caused us to miss the connection and rescheduled us on a flight leaving 33 hrs later. (terrible experience!) Anyway, the museum was fun – it houses the Enola Gay, the Space Shuttle Enterprise, and other space and aviation artifacts.

Even though my camera was dying on this trip, I tried to take a few black and white pictures as well.
