Marcus’ arrival at the hospital
The fat lady is thin(ner) again. Marcus’ arrival was the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. Also his dad was completely blown away with the emotions that you experience when you look at your son for the first (and also for the 50th ) time..
Many people would have been jealous – my pregnancy went perfect, the delivery wasn’t too painful (thanks to the epidural) , the next day I was already walking around and we have a perfectly healthy boy.

Jon didn’t leave the hospital. He stayed with Marcus and I as much as possible. You can maybe tell that he didn’t shave for 5 days.
The care in the AZ St. Augustinus hospital in Antwerp was excellent. All nurses were very friendly and made sure everyone had everything they needed.
Marcus loves his mom’s milk. The first time I breastfed, he didn’t want to let go for 3 hours. The nurses mentioned that there is unfortunately no manual by each child – they are all a little different. After the first day, Marcus managed to get the milkmachine running at full capacity

In the hospital, Marcus slept most of the time – if I wasn’t feeding or cleaning him.

Because everybody was very healthy, we only were 4 days in the hospital. In Belgium, this is the minimal length of a stay. During the first couple days, my sisters, brothers-in-law and parents came to visit. See here the proud grandma – Marcus is her fifth grandchild. Marcus’ 4 cousins also came to welcome him – Maxime(4), Hendrik (2), Jolijn (3) and Lieselore (1.5) – all will be great playmates.
