Fat Lady Update 7

22 Oct 2006 @ 08:32

Hi, I’m back!

The last two weeks have been crazy.

I realized that there are ONLY 8 weeks left till December 15th. On this day, I stop working for the year and our house must practically be ready to move in. Once you look at the attached pictures, you can imagine why I didn’t sleep so well.

Each upcoming week I’m taking 1 day off to coordinate the renovation. In the weekend, many stores are closed, making renovations just that much more challenging in Europe.

One big milestone in our renovation, is putting the sub-floor in place. In Belgium we use a special kind of cement that takes a long-long time to dry. Normally we would have had our sub floor 2 weeks ago, but due to a height difference and too much isolation on the floor in the house, we had to cut off 2 inches from all our doors…Ouch =((

I think my pregnancy has helped in negotiations with the firm doing the sub-floor. They agreed to put some special products in the cement, making it dry quicker without extra charges. Let’s hope all will work out and dry quickly!

I also learned that you should decide which lamps to use, very early in the process. Don’t wait till the electricity is in place and the walls/floors are fixed (like we did).

In addition, male lamp experts don’t think that women can understand anything about electricity. This has been rather frustrating. In addition, if have been receiving different answers to my questions, completely driving me nuts. (grr..)

When we made a reservation for a modern looking bathtub, I had a bad feeling…for a reason. It already is 5 weeks late and must arrive on Tuesday; otherwise we need to select a standard module that is in stock.

Ok ok, it all sounds very bad – but I’m sure the final result will be very nice and can make me forget the hell I went through.

To be 27 weeks pregnant, and having a super busy schedule, I have been lucky that I still feel very well.

This weekend, Jon and I are catching up on sleep, trying recharge our batteries. My stomach is of course getting bigger and bigger every day. Every evening I try to relax in the coach for 10 minutes and enjoy the little movements of our baby.

We should actually start thinking about a “proper” name…
