Marcus
Our first addition to the family is here. Marcus arrived on January 24th at 9:45 pm. Everything was uneventful.
Christine started having labor pains around 5 am but she didn’t wake me up until 6. She said the contractions weren’t very strong, but they were coming about every 10 minutes. I grabbed a quick shower, packed up the car and we got to the hospital around 7:15. We got checked in and they put her on a baby monitor. After 30 minutes they tell us that it’s probably not happening right now but we should hang around a bit just in case. We went to the cafeteria for something to drink and then took a walk around the hospital.
Around 10am, we headed back to the maternity ward and she gets checked out again. They said she hasn’t even begun to dilate yet, so they sent us home.
Once we got home, Christine got in the bath. She also started complaining the room is too cold and that I should be in the bathroom with her to make sure she doesn’t have a massive contraction where she passes out from the pain and slips under water and drowns.
Around 3pm, the contractions started getting worse, so we got back in the car and headed to the hospital again. We arrived at 4 and they checked Christine out again. She had started to dilate, so they put us in a pre-delivery room. For the next couple hours, the contractions started getting stronger and closer together. Eventually, they got pretty bad so Christine took an epidural. She didn’t feel any of the contractions until close to 9pm. She was fully dilated, so they wheeled her into the delivery room and the pushing began.
Christine did a great job and Marcus arrived at 9:45pm. He cried almost immediately and he checked out to be very healthy.
